Small pleasures: Salt shaker in the greenhouse

DIY saltshakerToday I finally did something I’ve been wanting to do for years. I put a salt shaker in the greenhouse!

I didn’t have an “official” shaker to spare so decided to just whip something up. Mini mason jar to the rescue. Used the old hammer and nail hole-punching technique, and threw some rice grains in there to account for possible moisture in that hot hot greenhouse. Et voilĂ , dreams do come true.

Simple tools to get the job done.

  • mason jar or some other small jar with lid
  • hammer
  • nail
  • salt
  • rice

Now all I need in there is a basil plant and some bread and cheese…
