Small pleasures: Salt shaker in the greenhouse

DIY saltshakerToday I finally did something I’ve been wanting to do for years. I put a salt shaker in the greenhouse!

I didn’t have an “official” shaker to spare so decided to just whip something up. Mini mason jar to the rescue. Used the old hammer and nail hole-punching technique, and threw some rice grains in there to account for possible moisture in that hot hot greenhouse. Et voilà, dreams do come true.

Simple tools to get the job done.

  • mason jar or some other small jar with lid
  • hammer
  • nail
  • salt
  • rice

Now all I need in there is a basil plant and some bread and cheese…
