iilo Creative Alliance

I have been collaborating with iilo Creative Alliance, a values-based creative services agency, since 2016. As part of the iilo team, I work on complex projects for progressive impact businesses, nonprofits, institutions, social enterprises, marketing & communications departments, and municipalities. These collaborations inform the work that I do with my clients at Keiko Creative.

“Keiko is a fantastic graphic designer - also highly talented as an illustrator and great at noticing all of the details. We've been collaborating since 2016 and I love having her on the iilo team.”

- Lisa Hemingway, Co-owner, Director of Creativity & Opportunities, iilo Creative Alliance

CPHR BC & Yukon annual conference theme in action at the event

CPHR BC & Yukon

In the 6 years that I’ve been engaged with this client through iilo, we have provided them design services and support from the day to day, to sub-program and event branding and promotional campaigns. It feels great to be part of an enduring partnership with an organization such as CPHR BC & Yukon, whose mission is to "keep people first in the decisions of leaders".

Annual HR Conference

Project: Event Branding & Promotions
Client: iilo Creative Alliance for CPHR BC & Yukon
Role: Graphic Designer (freelance), with Creative Direction by Lisa Hemingway
Year: 2019-present (2020 event cancelled due to Covid pandemic)

Each year CPHR BC & Yukon hosts an HR Conference designed to engage, educate and inspire their membership of HR professionals. The iilo team collaborates closely with the CPHR team to help guide the integration of the year’s theme into the event’s branding and programming. Deliverables include all digital marketing and social media graphics, on-site signage and trade show booth artwork, graphics for the event’s online platform and app, and the event’s comprehensive digital resource guide publication.

Read the iilo blog for more about how we inspired and connected with attendees at the 2022 event.

Make your #HReasy

Project: Campaign Branding & Promotions
Role: Graphic Designer (freelance) with Creative Direction by Lisa Hemingway
Year: 2022

In 2022, CPHR needed an ad campaign directed towards small businesses who need HR help. “We realize that our members can provide the answers a lot of small businesses need right now.” With that prompt, we came up with a campaign that used the theme “Tough Questions / Easy Answers” and the tagline “Make your HR easy”. The hashtag #HReasy was integrated into the ad campaign to help extend the reach of their message through social media. The concept was approved at Draft 1!

HR Spotlight Award

Project: Program branding
Role: Graphic Designer (freelance), with Creative Direction by Lisa Hemingway
Year: 2022

In 2022 CPHR revamped their award program and asked the iilo team to create a fresh new look that was professional, unique and different from the rest of their branded materials. The HR Spotlight program recognizes a select group of remarkable CPHR BC & Yukon members who have made a significant impact in the workplace, conquered a daunting challenge, or been an inspiration to others. The design we came up with reflected the special ness of the recipients and their achievements with a rich colour palette, a subtly abstracted “spotlight” motif, and a bit of bling.

Invasive Species Council of BC

Project: Branding & Collateral Design
Client: Backyard Creative (now known as iilo), for ISCBC
Role: Graphic Designer (freelance), with Creative Direction by Lisa Hemingway
Year: 2016-2018

Work with ISCBC began with an update to their logo. The integrity of the word mark was maintained, while bringing it up to date in its look and colour palette and font families. We also expanded the collection to include a horizontal and word mark version for various applications.

We went on to produce an extensive suite of collateral to help them tell their story in a bold, engaging and clear way.

Magnolia Gardens

Project: Brand re-fresh, marketing collateral
Client: Backyard Creative (now known as iilo) for Bria Communities
Role: Lead Designer (freelance), with Creative Direction by Lisa Hemingway
Year: 2019

I was hired by Backyard Creative (now iilo) to collaborate on a brand refresh for Magnolia Gardens seniors’ residence. The goal was to bring the Magnolia brand into clear alignment with its sister residence, Sunridge Gardens, and with the greater family of Bria residencies. The new brand captured the luminosity and freshness of a magnolia blossom in the spring, and reflected the modern look of the other Bria residences.
